Tudor Black Press

The Tudor Black Press is honoured to welcome back the wood engraver Jenny Portlock, having previously designed and cut the engravings for Lohengrin. Jenny is working on designs and engravings for this new book, which will embrace the spirit of William Morris.

       There will be will be 60 copies of this edition in three different states. 15 Edition de Luxe. 20 Special's and 25 Standard copies. The edition will be printed in 18 point Caslon Old Face, the type has been newly cast by the Letter-Kunde Press in Antwerp, Caslon Old face was once favoured by William Morris in his earlier works from the Kelmscott Press.

THE EDITION de LUXE

Fifteen copies will be imprinted onto 140 gsm Orfui Malmok Mill 100% cotton handmade wove paper. Each copy will be quarter bound in Vert Pin Alran leather. The boards are made from seasoned Oak. Specially made marbled paper from Daniela Prima will be used for the end papers. The book will also be accompanied by a portfolio of engravings and proof pages that are housed in a specially designed solander box which has a compartment that houses two lines of type which was used in the printing of the book. Each copy is numbered in Roman Numerals I to XV.

THE EDITION de LUXE IS FULLY SUBSCRIBED

THE SPECIAL EDITION

Twenty copies will be imprinted onto 130 gsm Fabriano Tiepolo 100% cotton wove paper. Each copy will be half bound in vellum, with French marbled paper on the boards. Each book is housed in a Solander box, and lettered A to T.

Two copies are available to order £550.00.

THE STANDARD EDITION

Twenty-five copies will be imprinted onto 170 gsm Libra Charta paper and quarter bound in green leather with coloured Fabriano paper on the boards with a label to the front. Each copy will be housed in a slipcase and numbered 1 to 25.

All the type is hand-set and hand-printed on an Albion hand-press.
