Lohengrin
A Tale of the Swan Knight
The text of the book was written by Constance Maud, who was an 'Author Member' of the Suffragette movement. She wrote a number of books taken from the tales that are in the operas written by Wagner. The text for this edition of Lohengrin is taken from her Wagner's Heroes.

50 copies of the book will be created by hand, 5 will be special copies, 3 of which will be for sale.
6 wonderful wood engravings will be carved by Jenny Portlock.
The 5 specials will be bound in full Gitane blue tooled leather, specially made marbled papers will adorn the inner boards and will form part of the end papers. Included are copies of each engraving printed on Amalfi handmade paper. These will be housed in a solander box.
The 45 ordinary copies will be quarter bound in Gitane blue leather with hand marbled paper from Payhembury Papers on the boards.
All copies have been sold
The text will be hand set in 14pt Monotype Octavian, two cases of which were supplied by the Letter Kunde Press. All the printing will be on the Albion press.

Jenny Portlock
Jenny is an experienced wood engraver and is an elected member of the Society of Wood Engravers. She has exhibited her engravings widely both in the UK and across Europe. She has agreed to work with The Tudor Black Press in designing and cutting six original wood engravings for the new printing of Constance Maud’s rendering of Lohengrin. They are of a wonderful unique style from Jenny and are most befitting of the book.
